Offday randomness

Note: This is my 51st post. YAY!

First of all Jonathan Ericsson's injury seems to be much lighter than we initially thought. It's a bone bruise and the official reports of his time out varies from indefinetly to at least 2-3 weeks. We will know more in a week or so according to master Ken. I am extremely relieved by this. I couldn't really face another guy going down long term right now.

What else can I write about? (I am bored, waiting for my spaghetti water to boil).
Oh yeah. Wanna read some great writing? Here are two great new blogposts that you need to read: First of all read how the Chief at Abel to Yzerman tears a critic/Wild blogger a new arsehole. Secondly the wildest and scrappiest of Red Wings bloggers Natalie, at the Scrappy Octopus gives advice on fashion fouls on game night. I should probably tell you that her blog has explicit content, but hey, you already read me and I swear like a sailor, so what would the point be?

Lastly, one of the weirder rumours coming out of the NHL:
The Philly Fourwrites that:

This one is out of the bizarre rumor mill, however, a credible source told “thephillyfour” a possible affair could be the reason the Flyers locker room appears to be split this season.

According to the source Jeff Carter had an affair with Scott Hartnell’s wife and the entire locker room is split over the situation.

If this is true the question must be asked, could a trade of one of the two players be the only remedy for such a problem?

Also in other Flyers Wives gossip, Danny Brierre is rumored to be close to getting a divorce with his wife.

Too bad for Tiger Woods no one cares about hockey, this story could get just as ugly.

Huh, that's quite a rumour. Let's hope it's not true. Scotty Hartnell played here in Oslo for a year and though he played for the enemy team, I still got the impression that he's an extremely nice guy. So I'm hoping for not true here, but the rumours of trouble in the Philly room are coming from everywhere, so who knows. A person I would call a credible source told be Riley Cote is getting a divorce from his truly gorgeous wife. Don't know how that would upset team chemistry though, so I am just gonna make up my own rumour and assume that she's banging Michael Richards. No wait, she used to bang Richards, but now she's with Rosby.
In other Flyer news, the only Norwegian in the NHL Ole Kristian Tollefsen got his first game in a month last night. He used the opportunity to get himself injured for a few weeks.

Now I promise not to mention the Flyers for a while

  1. Congrats on post #51, Andy! Keep up the great work.

I've been reading stuff about those rumors out of Philly, too. Crazy stuff, for sure. It always fascinates me when things like this leak to the public because, let's face it, the hockey world is pretty boring compared to pretty much every other North American sport (or Tiger Woods--he kinda counts as his own sport). Hockey players generally keep their mouths shut about their personal lives, including conflicts that go on in the locker room. If this is true about the Flyers, it explains a lot of the discord they've had this season. The Hockey News had predicted that they would win the Cup this year, for crying out loud. They haven't had the year they hoped for, to say the least.

P.S. Thank you for the TSO shoutout!

  2. Yeah, I mean it's pretty crazy stuff, considering that it comes from the world of hockey. And as you say it explains alot about why this year has been likes it's been for the Flyers. Which is kinda sad (except for the fact they have Pronger), because I'd love to see them beat the Pens in the playoffs

  3. Happy anniversary (blogiversary? blogthday? whatever) Andy!

  4. Haha, thanks. I like blogthday...

By the way, a thought struck me last night. The Flyer rumour said that the situation had the dressing room "split". Let's for a second assume that the rumour is true and that the dressing room is in fact split. What are those guys thinking then? I mean, there has to be two camps:
    - Hartnell's camp, the "Carter is a jerk and useless as a human being"-people. They probably would like to see him traded. I suggest Anaheim. As far as I know, sleeping with teammates' wives is a form of goonery they don't have yet.
    - Carter's camp, the "What Jeff did was wrong, but he wasn't the cheater, Hartnell's wife was. And also, Scott must have not satisfied her and made a bad choice in marrying here. And after all Jeff's out leading scorer"-guys. They would probably like hartnell to be traded. I'd give a Leino or Williams for him.

To me, if it is like that, someone needs to get their priorities straight. Who cares if he's a jerk as long as he's a star right? mmmm...

  5. Is sleeping with a teammate's wife goonery or douchery, though?

Maybe we need to ask a more experienced authority on it. I can think of a couple possibilities.

  6. That's a great point. We should probably ask someone yeah?

New rumours say it's Riley Cote's soon to be ex-wife he slept with...

  7. Hahahaha. I would love, love, LOVE to see him get traded to Anaheim (assuming all this is true) because that would fulfill TSO's wish that the Ducks dressing room get CRABS! Mwahaha. And the plan all comes together...

Deadspin had a piece about the rumors today:

If anything, it has excellent entertainment value, which I always appreciate.

  8. Hehehe yeah!

And exactly. It's definitely entertaining. And well, that article you linked to at least proves that Jeff Carter had his reasons if he in fact banged Hartnell's wife
